In a country where the population exceeds a billion inhabitants, eleven women opened the way into publishing to depict this society's reality. They all started out with poor means and infrastructures, most of the time on personal funds.
Today, some of them are renowned and their success international. For others, the fight continues. Despite the snubbing and pitfalls, they ceaselessly publish books and magazines of merit, thus adding valour to contemporary thought.
These publications reflect the diversity of women's literature: novels for children, educative books, political texts, sociological essays, stories, poems and fictions, and so forth. But most of all, they demonstrate how the great events of the world can be tempered by art and intelligence.
